I just could not bring myself to cut his teensy claws, so I took Redemption to my usual vet clinic this morning to have it done and to make them show me how. The little snot - not only did he NOT struggle or wiggle when they picked him up (there were two techs, one for the holding, one for the clipping), but he didn't make a peep when they snipped his nails. One nail on a front paw even got trimmed to the quick so it bled a little, and not a sound from Red.

Now we all know that if *I* were the one doing it he would have screamed bloody murder, causing me to cut his toes off, making me nervous for the rest of the wheek.

Oh, on their scale, 51 days after he has come to my house, he weighed 1.75 pounds! Nearly 2 pounds! Must be some kind of high-nutrient grass I have around here!

lol.... yes they seem to act different for vet people :)) I was doing claws last night.... well front claws mostly...... back claws for another day...its hard holding them and clipping with only 1 pair of hands :))

It is scary isn't it! glad he is all trimmed!

Aww! 1st vet trip?

It's sooooo much easier to do piggy nails with 2 people! Mine are very good and just sit there and let me do it, and even I prefer doing it with 2 people! Aunty Sonya the almost vet does their pedicures while I hold them. She won't go near my dogs claws though - he's not a fan of having his feet touched! I get to do those all by myself! rolleyes

Lol, its a bit like when you show someone your pigs and you go "oh they talk all the time" *silence* "Honest".

He might be better behaved next time in case you take him there again :P

Awww! It's a bit daunting at first but if you do it regularly and only take a little snip off the end then there's no danger of doing any harm really. I have towel wrapped some piggies in the past but my Baby Black Jack II is totally supplicant - especially if there's a parsley or corriander sprig on the horizon!

It is much easier with 2 people and out of their usual surroundings... But mainly, it is lots of practice. And not aiming at doing all nails at once, just as many as you can in do in one go!

But Red is certainly coming on well!

Yes my piggies are the same when someone else does there nails! I think at the vets they may have been more confident and the piggies sense this and that calms them down? :)

Awww, i'm glad he was ok for his first vet visit! What a good boy he is! :))

Bart squeals like a big baby when he gets his nails clipped. Betty just lies on her back with her paws in the air as if to say, "go on then, get it over with!" :)) :)) :))

Shh, don't let betty bun hear you calling her a pig! I know she's got a fat tum! :) :) :)
