I found frank was a little assiduous when cleaning his privates, so I had a quick look and the skin that sheaths the willy inside is bright red (willy is pink). Is that normal?
I tried to compare with Finlay's but I didn't manage to get it out...mallethead

Both boys were treated on Tuesday with Xeno 450 but have started scratching like crazy again. I have just changed their bedding to fleece. I'm confuddled... HELP...

Sorry, I can't help you - it can take some time for xeno450 to work; or you may have an active source of mites (hay?).

For the willy question you ahve to wait for smebody more experienced.

I'm at wits' end with the scratching... It could come from the hay, we are trying to finish the old bag from the farm shop, put it back in last night.

I'm going to give Fin a bath and share my Aloe Vera gel with him...:))

The willy issue was quite a shock... and the whiff :)>>>

Yes, I think giving both boys a bath will at least ease the worst of the itching.

I use an insecticidal shampoo from p@h in those cases, but I'm not sure whether they still have it.

just used baby shampoo and put aloe vera gel on his rump, belly and back legs. I was thanked by a couple of poos and a lot of hair down the plug hole...

That's too much hair loss right?
There's nothing moving in it, just lots of tiny white bits.

That is not really a great amount of hair loss. It would seem as though he has a problem with lice.
Try "Flea or die" or "Lice 'n' easy" shampoos.

His penis should be a pink colour but it does sound like the skin is inflamed & maybe his penis too depending on how pink it is.

Could it be irritation from a foreign body?

When Toddie was neutered he had a large "plug" which was causing him discomfort, i had to expose his penis & submerged his bottom half in warm water which was enough to dislodge the plug. I'm frequently pulling something out of one of my boys bits :(|)

the penis and the outer sack were pink but the sort of middly bit was red. I'll have another look later to see if I was just alarmed too quickly.
I don't fiddle with my boys' bits too often - although I keep a close eye on their bums and stools - so I don't know what to expect.

Compare him with the other boars, that will give you a better idea of what colour is "average". Maybe you do that already.

I tried but couldn't get Fin's out... mallethead

I had another look at Frank's earlier and it seemed to be normal again. I'll just keep an eye on his grooming.

Fin on the other hand has been sulking since he had his bath and Aloe vera treatment but there's defo less scratching now.:)

I can't see the pics, they say they're removed :{
GO onto the GL site and have a look they've always got some good pics of 'bits'

Dam mites grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I wonder if he was a tad over-exuberant at grooming himself. I'm glad things seem to have settled down :)

Well, that's always a possibility...

Sorry, I had a tidy on my Photobucket account and moved some pictures... to folders which has rendered the links obsolete. Sorry!
