This morning I took some shots of Red and the big dog cage; since I followed the advice to cover the top of it, he is doing much better. Here is what he looks like, and a view of where he lives. Last night I cut some hay and some very sweet grass and put them both inside; this morning the grass was totally gone but only a little of the hay was gone. I cut some more grass for him, and I took some pictures. (He has seen the guinea pig in the mirror once, but he sniffed it and ignored it after that.) I got some wheeks when I brought the grass in but before I deposited it. The "Smart Ones" box is from one of my microwave sandwiches; it makes a perfect tunnel for him, and I think the label reflects well on all of you. (p.s. His hair is regrowing.)

Oh he so gorgeous! You have done a fantastic job with him, he has really landed on his feet finding you :)

similar?

To: Poppy'sMum
Redemption seems to have the same coloration as the little beastie in your avatar. Would this mean they are somewhat the same type, or are the colorations in gp's so varied that this is just a coincidence?

Oh Pat, what a fantastic job you've done with red! He looks very happy! :))

Redemption is stunning! You've done brilliant with him

Aww.... Red is gorgeous and is looking so well now. The cage is a fab space for him. You have done wonders with him and I'm glad the forum has been able to help you.

Please give Red a little nose rub for me when he feels up to it.

WE have done a superb job - I could not have helped him without this forum's help, and I have much more to learn. As Tiny Tim said, "God bless us, every one."

This forum is a lovely place to be and it is lovely to see that with the right research you have done a wonderful job with little Red. The difference you see when an animal is taken out of an awful situation to a home where he is obviously loved is a sight to gladen the heart.
Keep up the good work.

Wheeks from my little herd to Red

Aw he looks much better all ready, nice to see him tucking into his grass. Well done.
Go on, are you going to keep him? ;)

He is doing so well! This forum has helped me so much as well! Sweets wouldn't be the happy little guy he is today if it weren't for this forum. It's the best and the members are so friendly and helpful :)

Thank you for saving little Red. He looks so much happier then the first picture you've posted (he looked more scared then anything) I'm glad he's coming out of his shell for you. Their first 'wheeks' are the best sound in the world aren't they?

What a great little guy - he looks so happy and settled now, and he's absolutely gorgeous. You've completely transformed him, and I think Red's story has brought the best out of this forum.

Looking forward to more pics and updates.

Extra chin rubs from me and the boys xx>>>

Hi Pat

The wee beastie is Poppy my beloved darling who passed away 3 weeks ago, at the grand age of 7 years! 8... she was a Rex piggie, not sure what colours you would class her, a mixed bag of browns & whites I guess :) Red looks like he is a long haired one of some kind, I love his markings though! :))

You are doing such an amazing job, he's adorable and I love his cage :)

Oh my what a beautiful and handsome guinea pig. I fell in love instantly with him. :rose

After reading this thread I read through a few of your other topics to find out more about Redemption and I must say you are doing a fantastic job with him. You have changed the little guys life for the better.

He looks very happy in his new cage. =)

ahh can't believe how well redemption has come along. It is a truely wonderfull thing you have done for this lil piggy. We can all wish that there are more people with a big heart like you to help other guinea pigs and animals. With your help red will have a fab life- that must feel fantastic knowing you have done that :) xx

He looks nothing like the wee creature you described in your first posts, just soo much happier and fulfilled. I have been following your posts with interest and you are an absolute star for taking Red on! Misty and Storm send wheeks and kisses x

Aww he's stunning. What a sweetie he looks. You've done an amazing job with him...he's so lucky to have found you.

He is so cute and has obviously enslaved you lol, any plan's to get him a friend? They have a way of getting to under your skin lol, I had two then three now 8 piggie's alltogether and pretty much everyone on here has similar stories tho 8 is deffo my limit

He looks like one happy little piggy! Well done again Pat, the world needs more people like you!

Today I put my finger through the bars while he was skittering around and he actually came over to sniff my finger to see if I had anything new to eat! That's as close to a nose rub as I can get right now, but it's something!

Go on, are you going to keep him?
We shall see; as I have said before, I will not surrender his care to anyone who will not care for him as I would, but I really don't need one more responsibility. Yet, his dog cage is tall enough to add two more guinea-pig stories to climb about on, and don't you know I am planning how to build them. . . . It is too early to say, but I really am curious as to whether I can raise him properly.

Their first 'wheeks' are the best sound in the world aren't they?
I was surprised at how delightful they are! I have been tempted to take them personally, but I know that at least right now it is just his reaction to pleasant occurrences in his new environment. What I particularly like is the soft sound I compare to the burbling of running water.

You are doing such an amazing job, he's adorable and I love his cage
This current cage has turned out better than I imagined. Just think, it's his fourth home in seven days, if you count the fetid plastic box he came from. From that, to the small-animal live trap, to the dog carrier, now to the dog cage. OH - I know, I'll take a photo of how it is set up in the garage!

With your help red will have a fab life- that must feel fantastic knowing you have done that :) xx
Oh, that is the one thing that is tempting me the most to make sure I keep him as my own; however long his life may be, for me to witness it and to help it along, be it one more week or one more decade. I've never had a guinea pig before, as you all know, and this is the perfect learning opportunity, dropped into my lap by the angels, as it were.

any plan's to get him a friend?
I will say that, as time goes by (that was a wonderful television show, was it not?), if I decide to keep him for my own or otherwise to be involved in his care, I would get another for a companion, for I believe that God did not intend for man or guinea pig to live alone. If he does find another home it will be one with other loved piggies where it is obvious that their "slave", as you say, knows how to care for them properly.

It's people like you Pat who gives me faith in human nature and kindness!

This little piggie has gone from strength to strength because you didn't turn your back, you took on advice from everyone and you have done your best for this little fluffball and I know all of us on this forum can't explain our gratitude to you for helping this poorly little piggie!

His cage is fantastic and has so many guinea friendly bits and bobs :)

Well done and I'm sure this cute little fluffball will be very hard to give up :))

Oh Red you sure have a nifty cage .......... lots of things to play with and some greeeeeeeeeeeeeeen spaghetti drooldrooldrool
wheeeeks love greeeeeeeeeen spaghetti too !

p.s. greeeeeeeeeen spaghetti = grass :(|) (once again my warped sense of humour Pat)
