Hello everyone,

As some of you know, my fiancée @rializa_2026 and I recently adopted Reese and Chunk. We have had them now for a little over 2 weeks, and they have been slowly getting used to things. We have been keeping them on a schedule as much as possible, and they both are still kinda a tad skittish. They both will come up to you when you are on the side of the cage with treats/snacks. They will wheek at times when veggies are being cut up for them. Reese is still more on the dominant side as well, with rumble strutting and things at times as well.

We did a weigh-in the other day (the first one since we got them, probably not good), and Chunk weighed 29.5 ounces, and Reese weighed 38.3 ounces. While we aren't super super concerned at the moment, we are still keeping an eye on both. They seem to be able to share general hay and veggies well when they are put into the cage, but treats and other things seem to be where the most food stealing occurs.

The cage (pictures below) is still a work in progress, and we have other things that we want to get for it as well. If you have tips for the cage, let us know, as that could be helpful. We are looking for a different hay tray for the bottom and a new hide also. We are also looking for a hay tray smaller for the top portion and another water bottle for up top. They have both kinda ventured up top in their own time, just not very often. They have also both gotten some floor time to get them out of their cage for a minute by being moved by a hide.

We are looking at getting pet insurance and looking to get them to the vet for their first visit sooner rather than later. We are also looking at a possible guinea pig box for them, too. If anyone has any spreadsheets, apps, etc, that they use to help track things or anything else, let us know also.

Note: The green tunnel and the wooden tunnel are usually flipped, and the hanging ball usually goes on the side around the green tunnel roughly. The castle in the back of the cage also has a ramp attachment we were looking at removing since it is currently set up like that, since they usually just jump up to the top.

Lovely piggies
What a lovely home they have - I agree extra water bottle and hay box 2 of everything 😂
My piggies have the same hay tray and one loves making a nest in it.

I’d probably put some sort of lid/cover over the loft ….they could jump or climb out - maybe a bit of cardboard or correx that could be easily removed for cleaning. It might be too open for them.
