Froggerella
Junior Guinea Pig
One of my rescue pigs, Rubix, passed away on Sunday morning in his hutch.
Bix had been to the vets a few times this year, once for an abscess, and then again when he began to lose a fair bit of weight. The vet suspected arthritis (but was unsure, due to the lack of history for Bix since he was a rescue). Critical care and metacam daily seemed to help slow down the weight loss, but never fixed it. However, Bix was as happy and lively as he'd always been, up until Saturday night.
Rubix was beautifully friendly, smart, and inquisitive. He was once described by the vet as a real 'neck guinea pig', thanks to his love of cuddling in to people's necks and getting tangled in hair. Whenever he was in the pig pen, he'd stand on his hind legs and follow me around the room, watching what I was doing.
Bix will be sadly missed, most especially by his hutchmate and fellow rescue, Cube, who he was often snuggled up next to in his final days. We love you Bix.
