renaming?

i’d like to rescue two piggies as you may know. will it be ok to rename one to beatrice. i really like that name.
pronounced: bey-a-tr (with a french r)iece
 
You can name them whatever you wish

One of my rescue rabbits was called Sarah but I renamed her Lottie. It obviously didn’t change her official paperwork with the rescue centre, but it made no difference to them what I called her
 
We renamed Jessica and Chloe as Jezebel and Clover because they sort of sounded like their old names, but Blodwen pig who came from a bad situation got a completely new name and we dont even say what her old name was so her crazy previous owner can't find her online! Piggies do learn their names but they will quickly associate anything you say while being kind to them with what they are called now. Beatrice is a lovely name :)
 
Most of my rescue pigs have had new names. Sometimes it’s best to get them and see how their characters develop - then a name usually springs to mind. I find pre naming them doesn't always work!
 
That’s a lovely name, and to be honest once you’ve adopted a piggy you can call them whatever you like. Rescues have to name all piggies in their care for identification and veterinary purposes but as long as you can remember their rescue name in case you have to go back to the rescue or their vets with any queries at any time then it’s fine to call them by their new name.
 
Most of mine have been renamed. After the initial pair I stuck with very much human names so it depends whether the piggy comes with a human name in which case I keep the name (Peter, Daisy, Isobel) or whether I change it (i.e. Jaffa Cake became Donald, Pluto became Boris, Pigz became Lily)
 
Priscilla, Phoebe and Micah all had new names.
I’m not sure that they understand names but piggies to respond to the sound of our voices and the tones we use when talking to them.

okay. i think it will be okay to rename one of the sows to beatrice. it will be shortened to bea to go with honey
i’m going to name the others chutney to go with marmalade and cheese to go with toast! 😁😁
