Junior Guinea Pig
Hello, so my 5 month old piggie Ren is obviously going through the teenage hormone stage, and i have noticed that he particularly perks up in the evenings. Kylo has been having teeth issues, ear infection, lice etc - he is older but only by a few months (i think he is 9 months). Anyway, i think his illness and therefore relative passiveness seems to have given Ren the ideal opportunity to vent. I have been daily weighing Kylo and a few days ago noticed some small scratches on his rump - they didnt look fresh, but cleaned them anyway. Given they hadnt been constantly at it, i kept them together (also spoke to the rescue who advised to keep them together for now). Up until today I hadnt actually seen them fighting. There is no teeth chattering, or rumblestrutting or mounting etc during the day - they seem to keep in their own corner of the 6*2 C&C (where they have two of everything!). Today, Ren was just chasing Kylo around, and Kylo being relatively savvy would move at even the hint of Ren coming closer..but finally he didnt make it. I have also felt that Kylo doesnt really appreciate Ren's company much even before today's incident. So, i have temporarily split the cage in two (Ren wasnt happy about this and tried to bite the bars, which i have now securely covered with a blanket). I have also cleaned Kylo's wound with salt water, and he has a local vet appointment tomorrow so will get everything checked, and going to see Simon/Kim at cat and Rabbits on Thursday for is teeth. Have i done the right thing here? Should i even look at trying to get them back together? i usually take them both to all the vet appointments but was now only going to take Kylo as i cant imagine them being couped up together!
