I have guinea pigs amongst other animals, who are healthy. My vet who i've been going to for many years is great but not really guinea pig savvy though there was a vet there who was who has now left. Anyways i rescued a boar from someone who could no longer keep him (her mum had just passed away). Hes a wee sweetie but he is so so skinny. I looked at his teeth (front ones ) and the bottom ones were way too long. My vet trimmed them back (no anaesthetic) but i think he is still having problems eating so i guess his back teeth are needing done too. I'm finding it difficult to find a vet or rodentologist in my area. My vet will do them and i do trust him, he's saved a few of my pets lifes but under anaesthetic. He's sitting on my chest just now, chirping away whilst i type. He is very lively and vocal just so skinny. He is eating and i'm also giving him some baby food (vegetarian) to try and fatten him up as well as his own food and veg. Any advice would be great. I stay in Renfrewshire area. I phoned a vet who deals with ,exotics but they still knock them out. I know because there are no nerves in a guinea pigs teeth its not pain its more nervousness why they sedate them.I'm just worried he won't be strong enough for the anaesthetic.Help please.
