We adopted Harold at the end of October and he is so shy of people, I've never had such a timid piggy before. I was given his background info from the rescue he was bought as a pair and his sister became pregnant after being sold as another boy and his owners gave him up and kept mum and babys.
I am handling him everyday but floor time is limited as he is wild! He also has play dates with Bruno. (He's very bossy with bruno) anyway... I've just been brushing him and notice he has a hole in his ear! It looks like he's had his ear pierced!? It's in the middle of his flappy ear part and it's a healed hole! I know the edges can get raggy but can he have a hole naturally. People don't pierce piggies ears do they!? I suppose rescues might not get true stories all the time

Some people do pierce piggies ears. I've seen it in rescue piggies at the humane society near me, and usually the holes are either healed, still open because they only just took the earring out, or their ears are torn from it getting stuck on something. It's really sad to see.

I’ve seen some breeders use a sort of metal tag in their piggies ears, could it be where one of those has been removed? Poor fellow.

That is horrible! I don't like to think what he might have experienced in his life :soz: I hope one day he can trust us.

He's gorgeous! I love the coloring.

Because they are such social animals, I'm sure he'll come to trust soon, especially with such a caring owner.

I am sure that with time and patience he will respond to your kindness and learn to trust you.

I’m afraid that from time to time piggies come into rescue in dubious circumstances and with stories that simply don’t add up. Some folk give the most improbable explanations. However, it’s so much better that these piggies come into rescue and get properly rehabilitated and rehomed that it really doesn’t do to ask too many questions.

He is safe and loved and will flourish in time. You’ve given him a fabulous new home and the chance of a happy life.
