Adult Guinea Pig
I adopted a piggy who has just turned 3 as a companion for my current piggy.
I expected her to be a bit nervous with a new environment but she is really timid! At first, she would run away as soon as we went near the cage. She has started coming out of the hidey a bit more but she won't come up to me for food or take food from my hand and she still bolts back to the hidey if for example we stand up from the dinner table.
She wheeks (wheeking for food type noise) when I pick her up and when she in my lap she constantly wriggles about trying to hide! Both piggies have been together almost 2 weeks and my other piggy is the dominant one and they still rumble strut. I wonder if my other girl being dominant maybe makes her more nervous? Or maybe she wasn't handled much by her previous owner
any tips on how to help make her feel more at ease?
