Rescue piggy

I'm going to the local reacue this afternoon to have a look, and i wanted some advice if i see a piggy and fall in love do i get him, or do you think its to soon after loosing marble?

Follow your heart! Take the one that feels "right", and if you are not sure, go back and look somewhere else.

All rescue piggies deserve a loving home, so it is more a matter of finding the one that is meant for you. Don't feel guilty if you leave a piggie in the rescue. You can't save them all, and it will find a new home as well, eventually.
 
Thanks vicky, i really want a teddy and i know there are a couple in my local rescue I'm just hoping they are still there as i fell in love with him the last time i went.
 
I personally feel you have to think of Bradders, if you see one that suits I would make plans to get him. You may have to be homechecked first remember! :)

Thanks louise i hope so to, i dont mind being homechecked what exactly do they do? as at the moment bradders and marble lived in the kitchen?
 
They just come and check housing space. I was homechecked for Harvey (after we got him though) the guy was lovely and loved all his animals! He had a Donkey in his garden! :(|) They may ask about diets and a bit on your knowledge and care, they may not know all depends on the person. :)

Its straight forward and nothing to worry about. x
 
Cool thanks does it matter that i havnt got a garden, the pigs still get to go on fresh grass and get to free range in the flat? xx

Hope all goes well this afternoon - let us know what happens. It's an exciting time inviting another piggy into your life.

Look on the home visit as the laying of a foundation stone - this then hopefully builds into a long term relationship with both you and the rescue working together for the long term benefit of a lovely little piggy.

You're helping them and they are offering you a lifetime of support too......... plus the piggy gets a home, winners all round. :)
 
I can't see lack of garden space being a problem as long as they get exercise and you can show them where they go on the grass. Should be fine. So excited for you! :))

I was home checked when i got mine. She came and looked at the hutch, the garden, and asked a few questions. She brought my 2 boys with her when she did the home check, as i had already been to the rescue to see them.

Depends on the rescue. Most want to see that you have a big enough cage, roaming space for indoors piggies and some access to grass; but there are differences as to how broadminded they are. Some insist on access to a lawn. If I were you, I'd better give them a ring first and ask for their requirements.

If the rescue allows it, I would take Bradders with me and let him choose. I've done that twice and never came back with the piggie I would have chosen, but with two piggies who became best friends in record time!

Dizzy basically adopted herself by sticking to Minx' side and daring anybody to remove her from there, even though I'd been thinking more of a neutered boy for uberdominant Minx. And Dizzy also went for Llewelyn and not for the most gorgeous lemon agouti rex/sheltie x... But it felt right, so he was the one!
