Hello, does anyone know of a good rescue centre in Cornwall? I have 4 piggies at the moment and this evening about 10.15pm I have found a shoebox on my doorstep with a very frightened damp little piggie in it. I CANNOT BELIEVE some people !
I live in a smallish town in a rural area which I work in and most people know I love piggies, but I only have a certain amount of space and indeed with working, only a few hours per day to give them the love they deserve

The piggie by the way is a very small undernourished female- will take her 2 vets in morning

How can people behave like this !

Oh my gosh. How awful! :(:(:(:(
Is the baby above 4 weeks of age or does she look as though she should still be feeding from mum? Are you able to provide food, hay and water overnight for her? I don't know of any rescues but hopefully someone else will.

Have weighed her at 300gms, sorry am not of the metric age so think of that as just over half a pound- she's a long hair ( all matted and smelly-poor lamb ) think she's about 8 wks old

p.s have spare cage, hay etc- sorry Louise wasnt thinking straight when sent reply --- was just so damn furious

I can take her in if you need me to. My hubby is in Newlyn on Monday, he could always bring her back here.

Let me know, can't think of any other rescues in the area. Lucinda or Starla are both in Cornwall, they may know.

Poor little love, hope she's ok.

Shes lovely, dont have a cage at mo going spare so found a large cardbox box and will take her upstairs 2nite with me with food, water & veggies in-she's absolutley crawling with lice tho? small black wriggly things in her fur- are these lice and what do I do?

Thanks Louise - will let you know x

Awwww the poor darling :( It's nice that you are able to care for her for the time being :) It's sounds like lice dosen't it :( Hopefully the vet will give her a thorough check up this morning and help her on the road to recovery :) People can be so cruel and it's so unfair on the poor darling to have been left to suffer :( Let us know how she is bless her :)

Poor little piggy, I just hope that who ever dumped her hasnt got mum. Let us know how she gets on at the vets.

The sad thing is about cases like this, if people just came to us, we would always find a space for them, without all the cruelty of shoeboxes on doorsteps. Hope all goes well at the vets later x

Awwww the poor little thing. Hope she is ok. Let us know how you get on x

Aw, poor little piggie. What a wee shame. At least the person done the right thing and left it with someone who loves piggies and will ensure it gets a better future. So many piggies would have just been left to die.

Piggie

Thanks everyone, sorry not replied before but been running around like a mad thing.

Took her to vets 1st thing, very skinny and dehydrated poor little thing and she gave her a thorough check-up. she's got a wheezy chest so it's Baytril again ( am getting an old hand at this ! ) and we got fluid in her. Today she started eating a little bit and is spending her time in my bedroom-warmest room in the house in a box with a nice fleecy bed. She's terrified of people and freezes whenever she sees me.

Think I'm keeping her, my son took one look at her today and is smitten so ideas for names would be great !

Many thanks x

I have just picked up on this thread. Poor little thing, I bet she wonders what is going to happen to her next. So glad she has now got a loving home, bless you Paddyandrog.:)p

I too have only just caught up with this thread. Thank you for taking her in and giving her the love and care she so needs, I hope she recovers fully and learns to love and trust in her new devoted family. If you have any pictures, that might help with names ideas.

Poor little thing, glad it's being put on the right doorstep.
I am disgusted how people do things like that.
I'm glad she is getting good care, I'd love to see some pictures :D

poor little piggy! I'm soo happy you'v decided to keep her hopefully you can reassure her that people are good!
I'm just thankful that the people who obviously couldnt care for her left her where they knew she would be looked after.

good luck with her x

piggie

Hello, just an update- my computer died on me last weekend, just got a new one today ! Will try and post pics but at moment my camera won't work with Vista-think I need to download drivers? Little piggie is doing fine, think I will call her Daisy- she has got what I call a "bum quiff" lol:) that just looks like the petals of a daisy on her behind. She's getting a bit less scared of me and will pop out her little bed to see what veggies I've got.

Have a bit of a dilemma - have 4 boys, 3 get on really well together but one of them-George- is a bit quiet, I know it's early days but would he be a good neutered friend for my little girl when she is fully better?

Thanks to all who wished us well x
