Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everyone, asking for some advice here. We had a pair of sows, Penny and Poppy and unfortunately Poppy passed away suddenly in February, we were heartbroken. We decided to give Penny (and ourselves) some time to grieve and see how she coped on her own.
By March, we had found a lovely little boar named Thomas at the SSPCA (Scottish animal rescue) who was on his own too. He is around the same age as Penny and was neutered at the beginning of March, we have had Thomas since and kept him in a cage beside Penny.
It has now been five and a half weeks since he was neutered so we are looking to introduce them. Any tips/advice? He is such a nervous wee thing due to his background which is a shame, he seems quite settled in his new home though and our Penny is so laidback and very cuddly so we hope it will be a good match. Penny and Poppy were both ‘free roaming’ pigs as in, we left their cage open and they roamed our living room/area as they pleased (safely and supervised of course) and we hope to get to that stage with Thomas too. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
