Hello!
I am trying solve a potential issue.
( Anyone who’s read about Wally this is not about my little werepig!)

We use CC grids I have normal size & a few baby safe grids. The grids regularly referred to as baby safe grids I know are not suitable for bar chewers, as teeth/noses get stuck & piggies can get hurt.
Cardboard is not a permanent solution to the bar chewing, as it just gets chewed away!

I can’t get my head around Perspex/acrylic. (& I won’t buy from Kavee.) Any pointers welcome. Especially regarding cutting to size & making holes so it can be tied to the grids.

So my current options are something like
this……

Are they really suitable for neighbouring boars, or is it preventing smell , touch etc through the bars?
Anyone ever had a guinea pig try to go over the top ‘caus they couldn’t enjoy their favourite hobby of bar chewing? Or chew the plastic?( I can’t find any that will tell me the thickness in mm)

Alternatively I have been looking at the Ferplast cages, Krolik/Plaza. Also Midwest habitats.( I suspect the Midwest has too many gaps on the corners were the panels join.)

No where on the internet can I find out what the size is of the gaps between the bars on the Krolik/plaza cages. Can anyone measure for me please?

And if you have one of those cages have you ever had a piggie manage to bite the bars, or get hurt trying to bite the bars?

Thank you. 😀

There is Guinea Pig Loft which is all perspex. I'm not sure if it's chew proof though. I use acryllic sheets. I leave a roughly 5cm space between the cages. But my pigs aren't big bar biters now. Truffle bites a bit when I bring him spinach. Polo bites after a cage clean when he sees Truffle near the cage wall and they chew the bars together for a short time, but stop when distracted. The acryll sheets do have tears along the rim in one or two places, but seem to be harder than Correx to chew. I think serious chewing might be risky because the plastic bits would be hard and and sharp. I use the sheets more to prevent sprays of woodshavings being kicked onto the carpet during tantrums. I think they find it hard to locate the edge of the sheet to chew it, but that could vary with the piggy. I put the sheet between the correx wall and the bars. I try to interleave the sheets so that there are no sharp corners in case of eye scratches.

Thank you, for your advice.

I have come across Guinealoft in my searches, as lovely as the panels look they are unfortunately shipping from the USA which is not ideal.
