I got a baby guinea, Chewy, from a local pet store in June. He was roughly two months old. I typically do not buy animals from stores. However, I immediately fell in love with him, and we were already in the process of looking for a friend for our Theo. A couple of days after we brought him home he was looking ill. I immediately called the vet and he was under their care for two weeks with a terrible respiratory infection and bowel blockage. He's all better now and has had no signs of illness. He does make a wheezing sound when he gets excited. For example: When he gets breakfast, lunch or dinner he runs around his cage singing very loudly and then wheezes. My question is could he have tissue damage in his nose that could cause it? Is this something I should be concerned about? He's very lively and alert. His bowel movements are very normal. I'm just very concerned. I do not have him in the same cage as our Theo yet but they do have a lot of time together throughout the day. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Depending on how bad the URI was, it can have left some permanent damage in this airways; however, if in doubt, please check with your vet, especially if it becomes more noticeable, in case it is a not fully healed out respiratory infection.

I'm definitely going to make a vet appointment either way. Our piggies are our children. Their health and well-being is our top priority. Thank you for the reply!
