Respitory Problems ?

As disgusting as it was, George sneezed on me (5 mins ago) and i felt drops of mucus on me. When I checked his nose, it was runny, I wiped it and it hasnt been runny yet. I listened to his lungs and they sound OK. I have given his lots of hay to snuggle in and keep warm. Should I be worried ? Money is tight at the moment and the vet is the last resort unfortunatly. Any advice ?
 
Keep a close eye and ear on him and his chest! The sneezing can be from hay or a bit of dust or an allergy to either.

If he develops crusty eyes and crackly, raspy breathing and goes off colour and food you need to see a vet asap.

Thanks weibke :) I will definatly keep a close ear on his chest. Charlie his cage-mate seems fine though, fingers crossed.
 
What was he doing when he sneezed? Has his cage been cleaned within the last day, or hay topped up very recently (i.e. in the last hour or so)?

If there are no other symptoms and there is no real discharge, it could be that something temporarily irritated his nose.
Always worth bearing other problems in mind though, good idea to keep an eye on him. :)
 
Thanks, Laura. He was just out for lap time. His cage is due for a clean though and hay needs to be topped up as its nearly gone but no fresh stuff in the last while.
 
I'd say if his nose isn't running still, then he's probably fine. But always air on the side of caution and keep a close eye on him.
