Lightening sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning next to his brother Domino, aged 4 and a half.

He'd been diagnosed with bone disease back in October so was receiving lots of care and pain relief. His passing was incredibly peaceful and he's now in a much better place.

Rest easy little man x

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
I have been following Lightning's story, and no one could have done more or taken better care of him.
Huge hugs from Switzerland for all of you, and especially Domino.

Oh lightening, Sleep well little one. It was nice Dom was there by his side like a good brother.

Conscious that all the news to do with my piggie has been rather sad so I thought I'd share with you my 6 year old boys view of losing his beloved pet.

He said "Mummy that is the saddest news I have ever heard in my whole life" before bursting into tears and hugging me tight.

He stayed there for a while. I told him it was good to cry because it shows how much you loved him and that is called grief. That it comes and goes but it is a process of healing your heart. It happened to mummy too.

He wanted to see him to say goodbye which he did for a moment, stroked his nose and told me he we should make something to remember him by which I said was a lovely idea. So up he jumped & began rooting through his lego box.

So he made a beautiful namesake with a bolt of lightning at the end. I thought I'd share it with you, not only to show how mummy hasn't been spelling his name correctly (my 6 year old pointed that out) but how resilient, practical and thoughtful our little ones can be, even when they are experiencing grief for the first time.

That is so lovely and so moving.
It brought tears to my eyes.
Learning to deal with death is so important and your little boy sounds like he has a healthy approach due to your excellent handling of the situation.
