My guinea pig sam had to be euthanized and peacefully passed away on Sunday at the ripe age of 8, two months shy of his 9th birthday. I've had him since I was in the third grade and I just feel empty and alone without him; I can't even bring myself to enter his room and see an empty cage. He was my everything and I loved him dearly. Before he passed he was "throwing up" and could no longer keep food down but despite that, he still tried to eat. I can't help but feel relieved that he is no longer suffering and is finally at peace. We used to have a running gag that he was an emperor since he was very spoiled and demanding and always stood gracefully. I love you always and forever sam. 3/30/13-12/19/21

So sorry to hear this- what a lovely boy and what a wonderful life you gave him. I bet he was so glad to have you taking such good care of him - what a lucky pig he was to have had you and your family. Your bond sounds very special indeed. Go easy on yourself in this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss. Sam must have lived a very wonderful life and you must have taken great care of him to live to age 8. Sleep tight Sam.

My condolences for your loss. Sam appeared to be, from the pictures, an amazing piggy. Think of the good times you had and take care of yourself during the grieving process. Godspeed.

I'm sorry for your loss. He knew he was truly loved 💕

If it helps at all he probably wasn't throwing up - guinea pigs don't vomit like we do. But they can accumulate a lot of chewed food and drool in their mouths and cheeks because they spend most of the time eating so an old boy approaching the end could have just coughed out anything he hadn't swallowed. RIP Sam x
