I haven't posted on here in awhile, but I lost one of my piggies last year (Maple) to bloat & GI stasis. It was devastating. :( She passed right on the table at the vet.

I just lost another piggy to bloat, not sure what other issues she had going on because after the vets/treatment, the bloat settled down & she started pooping which was good, but then she was breathing hard & she went quickly - she ended up passing in my arms. :(

She was over 6yrs old; I got her when she was 2 from an old friend; she was older, & a very smart piggie. The loudest squeaker every morning for veggies.
Her cagemate, Apple, is sad but I connected her cage to my other 2 females' cage & she is coping a lot better now, she is not alone. <3

It's difficult, but I know she did not suffer long & she passed at home, in my arms, right after playing with the other pigs, everyone got to say goodbye. </3

Here are some photos of her: She had the cutest swirl on her head.

I’m so sorry you lost Charlotte and Maple. They were beautiful piggies. They will be popcorning over the bridge together forever now. Take care. ❤️

What gorgeous girls!

I am very sorry for your losses. Sudden GI stasis and/or severe bloat are both devastating because you cannot brace for it and it is very upsetting to watch.
Severe bloat can develop extremely fast in the elderly and frail; one of my own oldies I had to rush for pts in the middle of the night just 6 hours after the first symptoms appeared in late evening. it can also cause heart failure in those where that organ is no longer working optimally. GI stasis tends to hit out of the blue; if your piggy has no underlying issues, they can usually bounce back pretty easily and quickly if you notice in time but it can be a killer for the elderly or frailer, depending on what is causing it (it can be secondary and not just primary).
Digestive Disorders: Diarrhea - Bloat - GI Stasis (No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

My own 6 years old Beryn went into heart/organ failure overnight this summer after developing moderate bloat in the evening and first half of the night, so I feel for you. The next time I checked on her she was in the last stages of dying and passed away within a few minutes. :(

Please be kind to yourself; nothing of what has happened is your fault and you have done all the right things.
Take the time to read this guide here; it will hopefully help you. It is more difficult when a new death brings up an old trauma that has not yet been fully digested.

Thank you so much. :( It is very difficult, and she went so quickly. I appreciate everyone's kind words.💝

My condolences for your losses. Hope they met each other at the rainbow bridge!

I’m so sorry you lost Maple and Charlotte, it’s a sad time when piggie pass but always try and remember that you gave them a wonderful life x
Sleep tight little ladies 🌈

Beautiful girls! I'm so sorry for your losses💕

My 5 year old Buttercup passed 10 days ago. She had some long term problems that got worse, and then she developed bloat. We got her past it, and enjoyed about 2 days of her seemingly almost normal, but then one afternoon, much like your Charlotte, she slowed down, seemed to struggle to breathe for a short time, and then peacefully passed.

Sending hugs

So sorry for your loss. Your piggy had an excellent life, massive hugs to you ❤️🌈

I had lost my guinea pig Oreo to bloat. It really sucked because all of the vets were closed and we couldnt do anything about it...

Rest in peace sweet Charlotte and Maple, may you find love and care where you live now. Charlotte and Maple, sleep tight. May you find plentiful food, and a great place to live. Be happy piggies, for you have been reunited again :) @PoptartShop , I feel greatly saddened for your loss. Remember all of the good times you had with Charlotte and Maple, and know they are fine right now, and are with you right now. Be thankful they are in a good place.

I bet there having unlimited vegetables and water right now lol XD

Thank you so much. They really do leave the biggest imprints on our hearts.

@Candydez12 I am so sorry about Oreo as well. :( Bloat is very scary. :( Thank you so much for the kind words.
