Thank you everyone who gave me advice about the pets at home hassle yesterday. Well I called head office again (for the 7th time) and finally got a result. After threatening legal action I was told they will pay my vet bill (£179) up to this date. I am also getting gift vouchers towards the cost of a new cage. I even got an apology which was long overdue. They said as soon as they recieve the vet invoice's the cheque will be sent with the vouchers. I made sure I sent those invoices first thing this morning. I have no problems at all paying vet bills, as I have had animals all my life and have been brought up with the attitude that if you cant pay the bills don't get the pet in the first place. but i was not going to pay a vet bill when the animals were sick when they were sold to us. So a good result and hopefully now a stress free happy life for my little boys.

well done you, it is like getting blood from a stone with alot of these big stores so three cheers for you

Thank you. Still wont be shopping there again though. Will spend my vouchers and thats it. They need to get there stores sorted, these are little animals with feelings and they are treating them really badly.

thank you. Just want people to realise if they do buy animals from a pet shop they can get a result.

Thank you. it wasn't easy but people shouldn't have to suffer for them selling ill animals

yeah totally agree, it's not right. :tickedoff: p@h have some serious issues they need to adress, yet they carry on selling pregnant and ill animals :tickedoff: they have a responsibility as a pet shop to look after their animals properly, most of it's common sense and it's not even information thats hard to get hold of! :tickedoff: how hard is it to pick up a book and read that male piggies shouldn't be with females after a certain age?! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: and how hard is it to take an animal to the vets?! :tickedoff: it's not right, as a pet shop they should know these things, it's not fair on the animals or new owners :tickedoff: sorry got me started! ::) :tickedoff: ;D

well done! A bit of threatening always works ;) ;D

i cant thank everyone for the support i have recieved on this matter. xx

Ahhh! Bless you sweetheart 0:)

It's all credit to you for sticking up for yourself and persevering after they said No (so many times!)

Once again, well done. Hopefully this will encourage others to stand up for themselves and not put up with the rubbish we have to from major corporations .... sorry I'll get down off my soapbox (for now!) x

its true though. so many people get animals but dont say anything if things go wrong in the first 2 weeks, as a result the shops continue to sell sick pets and the poor owner is left with a huge bill for something they had no control over.

I'm glad they paid up! I thought it strange that they refused at first because I had no problem getting £43.95 out of them! I guess the amount put them off but still they should have the refund and vet fees policy regardless of how much it costs.

Personally I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to pet shop animals, my heart says they deserve a loving home my head says I shouldn't give pet stores money! I get all my supplies online now so much easier. :)

i had a smiliar problem with P@H, when i first got tinkerbell from there i had to take her to vets as she had a massive lump in her throat, and it was a infection from eating grass seed's, and this was a week from getting her so i knew it was nothing i did, and because the grass seed was embedded that much they had to do an operation which cost £150, when i spoke to P@H all they said was bring her back and we will swap her for another. how rude

well didnt swap her and will never step foot in another P@H

Same here, i think aww poor thing, wish i could get them out of there, after all it's not the animals fault it's gone there, and then i'm like nooooo they want you to buy their animals, thats how they keep going selling sick and preggie animals! ::) ;D *CONFUSED*
it's like gollum and smegaul (sp?) in my head on that one! ;D doesn't stop me being cross for not doing what they should though! :tickedoff: 98)

you cant get tempted to get a little piggy home either if you buy online. haha. x
