This summer is Kevin and Perry's third summer in existence, and every year at about this time I have offered them a strawberry, just to see whether they will eat it.

Today was the Annual Offering of the Strawberry for 2023. I chose a really ripe red one fresh from the garden. How could anyone or anypig refuse such a delicious-looking fruit, I thought.

Well, as it turns out, my two will, again, for the third year running! I gave them half each, and there was progress in that instead of eyeing it suspiciously and then ignoring it completely, Perry chewed his piece unto bits and dropped it all over the floor and Kevin sniffed his then walked off, but then came back and tried to knock Perry's strawberry out of his mouth although he didn't try to eat it either.

They go crazy for apple and carrot but other than that they definitely do not have a sweet tooth between them.

Repeating with a raspberry tomorrow.....or maybe I won't bother... 🤣

I remember offering Hamish & Hector 🌈 a piece of strawberry. Both were scared & Daddy slave eventually ate it. I no longer attempt to share strawberries 🍓 they are all mine(& for Daddy slave!)

Comet and Blitzen both ignored them. Comet I expected, he was always a fussy git, but Blitzen would eat pretty much anything unless that anything was a strawberry, apparently 🤷‍♂️ I don't buy strawberries any more because I don't like them, and I'm not going to be stuck here with a punnet of them if the goblins decide they're Evil.

My boys love the leaves. They often have strawberry and blackberry ones from the garden. We have a community berry garden near us, I come home with a handful of raspberry leaves whenever I go that way.

Mine actually backed away from them the two or so times I offered them! Then the other day, I thought I’d offer raspberries. I should have kept them for myself! Totally disinterested and the girl backed away when I broke off a bit to give her. Confused.com is what they are 🤣

I’d eat the raspberry!

Micah loves the strawberry tops but as for the fruit - none of them like strawberries.
This is fine - I love strawberries ( and raspberries )

I’m looking after my mum’s piggies this week and they like the odd strawberry. I don’t want to feed them too many as they are sugary, but when they’re offered they certainly enjoy them.
Strawberries are actually pretty low in sugar. They taste sweet because they're less acidic than other fruits, rather than more sugary. They are still a treat rather than a staple food, but I wouldn't worry about them being too sugary compared to other fruits, or sugary veg like carrots.

My Rainbow Piggy :yikes::yikes:DA BOSS:yikes::yikes: Velvet loved a strawberry top it was her very favourite food! If I happened to be feeling generous and offered a strawberry and any pig got to it before she did, they didn't have it for very long! She was:yikes::yikes: DA BOSS:yikes::yikes: and no pig had better forget it! She ruled Betsy Towers with a rod of iron. Here is the most dominant piggy I have ever owned

My previous pig didn't like strawberries when he was little but started eating them when he was about 3 and really enjoyed them afterwards.
I've tried with my two girls but it's a big nope... The first year, they ran away at the sight of the strawberry. The second year, they sniffed it and turned their back. This is year three-Capucine took a piece of it, gave it one munch and hurried to go eat some hay. Eglantine gave me a disgusted look and didn't even try. 🤣

LOL! My pigs like those Oxbow freeze-dried strawberries but not actual fresh strawberries. They do like honeydew and watermelon a lot, though.
