Hi! Not sure this is the right place to post this, feel feee to move it Admin :)

My outdoor guinea pigs have been in for the winter and I'm thinking (in the next 6-8 weeks) putting them back out into their outdoor hutch.

Do i just put them straight back outside or do I need to do it gradually? I've kept them in a cooler part of the house, but obviously it's still been warmer than outdoors.

Any advice would be appreciated, don't want my piggies to get sick or upset with the move.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm going to be in the same boat myself soonish and all I can think about is giving them some outdoor time and gradually building it up without having such dramatic changes in temperatures if you know what I mean. Well that's what I am considering.

My hubby was keen on my moving two lots out yesterday to the hutch but I'm not ready and neither are they. Besides, it will need a good clean and disinfectant before they are moved back out, that's without even considering the weather. Perhaps I've got a little selfish as well as I really enjoy having them indoors.

Not sure if that helps any, but good luck when it's time.

Thanks Mother Hubbard :)

I'm going to miss my two when they go back out too, but they have a bigger hutch outside and I feel they prefer outdoor living (that's what I'm telling myself anyway!) I don't know how I'll sleep the first few weeks they're back outside!

I have a feeling mine will probably be staying indoors too. Just passed the cage and they're both out in the open, eyes shut and snoozing. They must be feeling safe.

Oh I don't know what to do now!
