I put my guineas in my six foot hutch to allow the other one to dry out properly after a good scrub, they been in the other hutch for about a week so i put them back in and i noticed clouds fur is balding on one side, she is a nice a weight not skin probs but just balding,

do you think she could have been barbard? i thought this only happened to long haired pigs?

hhave you seen my thread on my piggy?

i have a rex with massive bald patches under and down his arms, he has had every treatment possible and its still there. weve concluded its behavioural as he chews his own hair. have you got a pic? i can always put a pic of munchies patches up to compare?

yes please lez, I don't have a digi cam so i have to borrow mums and she is reluctant to lend it to me at this time of year

It's very unusual for piggies to barber themselves or others to the skin unless there's a skin problem. Rexes seem to be more prone to skin problems than others. I would get the piggy treated for mites (ivermectin) and email Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas for her advice too. With females, patchy hair loss on the sides can also be hormonal.

I have already ivomect , yesterday when i saw it, but the same as you i wonder if it is hormones, this little pig has had a tough life, she came from a breeder pregnant, suffered a 3 x mummified babies, then had countless hay darts and is now blind in one eye!

isn't it strange how some guineas have all the bad luck, and now this fur thing, poor little thing
