Riff had huge bladder stone and a lipoma removed last week.

I check the wound every day. Tonight I noticed that it was a tiny bit swollen and harder on one side of the "zip". I'm hoping this is just hardening of internal tissues etc and not the start of abscess. Riff is on baytril and metacam.

Any thoughts?

fingers crossed it isn't anything bad, I suppose you could ring the vets for advice, but they'd either want to see him or would say wait and see.

Hopefully it isn't anything like an abscess seeing as Riff is in Baytril at the moment. Is the wound clean? Is it causing him to be uncomfortable?
It is annoying as these things have a habit of happening near a weekend. Perhaps give the vet a quick ring.

Poor little love ... he has been through such a lot. Sending him a big hug! x>>

Awwwwwww Riffit i'm so sorry to hear about this, we're sure that it's going to be that silly scar tissue, all paws crossed for you sweetie xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
and for your mummy as well xx>>>xx>>>

Thanks guys.

I'm sure it will just be scarring. The wound itself is spotless and Riff doesn't seem to be troubled at all.

I suppose I worry because after Scarby had liver re-section (yes, that really is true) an abscess developed at the wound site and it took several months to clear, depsite antibiotics, and having it flushed out.

Riff is back at vets on Monday anyway for sutures to come out.

Hopefully it is nothing serious and just part of the healing process xx

Hi Lucinda!

Lol at zip... that's what I called Ruby's opening! Her bladder op was a year ago now. I remember she had a swelling to the one side. It's alot better now but it's still there a bit. I think you're right - it is scar tissue.

Good luck at the vets today x

Gina was delighted with Riff's progress. The stitches are out. Riff had the skin incision elongated to the chest to remove a lump; Gina explained that the actual bladder incision is slightly to one side beneath the "zip" and that is what I can feel.

The other good news is the histology came back on the lump and it was only a lipoma.

Riff would like me to thank you all on his behalf for all the love and support. xx
