Hi, my neighbour has two piggies, she's just been round to warn me from going to them as they have ring worm (thereve got treatment) i only go to see them quite late and it drk just to drop a hand full of veg in there hutch. NOw I'm right you can catch ring worm which is why she said not to go near them but will i have needed to touch the piggies first?/

I dont touch her piggies, just go over to drop veg in and cover them up after i get home from work, is it ok if i still just do this:{

Hmm well all i touch is te door to open it and pull the covers up, my mums banned me from her garden till there better rolleyes

Ringworm is a nasty fungal infection that is transmitted by contact. You could wear rubber gloves when you touch your own guinea pigs, and then wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. If you're not wearing gloves to touch your own pigs, keep contact to a real minimum and give your hands a very good wash afterwards. Perhaps even use alcohol gel to protect yourself and everyone else after you've washed your hands. As long as you take all the necessary precautions you should be fine, and so should the pigs.
Here's a link to some information on ringworm:

And on that page there's other links to useful information.

Hi,

You can only get ringworm if you actually touch the pigs and the anything that has come in to contact with the infected area. However, even if you do touch the pig and the items he has touched, you will only get ringworm if you don't wash your hands thoroughly.

Trust me, as long as you wash your hands properly, you'll be fine!
