i took summer to the vet and she has ringworm, but 48 hours later it looks worse. is it supposed to get worse before it starts healing? i have no experiance with ringworm. the first image was taken 48 hours ago, the other 2 were taken this morning! its more than doubled in size and looks so sore. i've been putting the ointment on as the vet said, maybe her skin is sensitive? how long does it take to start healing? i'm so worried!

sometimes hair falls out as the skin heals (from what ive read before) but that looks serious and i would recomend you ring your vet right now. (provided you are sure your vet is piggy savvy). What ointment exactly have you been given?

Ringworm always gets worse before it gets better. Hopfully, you can get on top of it soon with Abi Nurse's advice.

Thanks guys and big thanks to abi. I'm using imavarol it just looked worse after the first treatment and i'm panicking! I'm treating all of them but its only summer so far that has got it. They due another treatment tomorrow so hopefully that will start the healing process.

When mine had ringworm, I used to get upset because it went from bit of hair loss > bit scabby > REAAAALLY scabby & bloody and then back the way.
Although, for me, putting topical medicine wasn't an option because mine are so squirmy so I'd been medicating them with oral medicine - Norofulvin.

update

thanks for all your help and advise. Summer is looking a little better, the area is no larger and its 'dry scabs' rather than the sore angry looking ones. they all had their second treatment yesterday (i have to do it every 3 days) so hopefully it's gonna start healing now. x

hi, just to update, the girls have finished their treatment and are all fine and healthy. summer's fur is starting to grow back in the bald patch too :laluot_31:
