just had to separate one of my piggies she has ringworm I can’t understand why one of them comes down with ringworm every couple of months! It’s s brand new shed! dose ringworm like damp conditions, possible draft ? Or am I doing something wrong?
If your piggy has been living with other piggies, personally I wouldn’t bother separating them as all piggies will need to be treated anyway, and separating them can cause stress
Have you deep cleaned all bowls, bottles, brushes, toys etc with a disinfectant like F10? Ringworm being fungal I can imagine May prefer damp conditions.
I can imagine wood is hard to thoroughly clean too! Our girlies are inside in a c and c cage so no wood but I’m sure someone will come along with some good advice for you
Good luck!
Spores can live on things for a long time before becoming active. I didn't know until my piggies got it but it starts in the hair before affecting the skin. You need to treat all pigs that the infected one has been in touch with and please visit a vet to ensure correct treatment and dosage otherwise you'll be constantly battling this. Please invest in a good disinfectant like F10 that will kill the spores and ensure you disinfect everything. It's hard work but putting in the effort and following good hygiene procedures will prevent reoccurrence.
