hope someone can help me please, i've got a female guinea pig she has ringworm and is being treated with a antibacterial solution and a cream which the vet has given me she has had over a week now and it is starting to clear up it now mostly dry and flaky skin, how long is she going to be infects for and i'm not sure. how long does it take for it to clear up?

please help me.:...

i have many of guinea coming in my rescue with ringworm and the incubation period is around 7 to 14 days.. they are not contagous after the scabs have come off but carry on with the treatment for 2wks after the scabs have gone once the fur is re growning then the ring worm has gone but still carry on for the 2wks after the scabs has gone.make sure you wear gloves when handling them with ring worm as you can get it off them.i wear a wipeabul apron and use virkon disanfectant to clean all my hutches and to wipe down my apron after handling each time..hope this helps alittle..:):)ps by what you are saying she is still contagous for another 1 week treatment is around 1mth in total

As Claire mentioned, it should clear up quite well once you've started the right treatment, but I think it won't go away completely unless you disinfect the cage/hutch, as the fungal spores can remain in the wood for some time. If it is a wooden hutch, you'll need to give it a good clean down and let it dry naturally, this should ensure that the environment is properly clean for them once they've recovered. Good luck!

What is the cream?
An antibacterial cream is of no use on a fungal problem.
