So my guinea pig Gizi has RingWorm and I think I caught it too... I know what RingWorm looks like and she had it so I am treating Gizi and it is doing quiet well but I think I've caught it too, just wondering can humans catch RingWorm from guinea pigs? I have visited a doctor and he gave me a cream and I think slowly its going away for me but just wanted to know if I caught it from her?

It is very likely you caught it from her as it is very contagious. I hope you both recover soon.

No she hasn't... But I've been using canesten Anti-fungal cream on her and she almost fully recovered :)

She has a friend doesnt she? Her friend will catch it too. I am not sure the cream is enough. @Pebble will know. I think she is online.

Yes she as a friend and I've been keeping a close eye on her.... but she doesn't seen to have it yet....

I just read it. Well hopefully that will be enough. It sounds like hygiene is one of the most important things.

Betadine is ok but will not get rid of ringworm. I use it on fungal nose strips sometimes which are mild in comparisson.

the vets will beable to take a scraping from it to test to see exactly what it is. alot of fungal looks similar so it might not be ringworm. ches had ringworm and he was given medication and a cream. thankfully maisie didn't catch it, but i did! so ches and i were both on treatment. :)) i think he was on it for four weeks.

throw away any wooden items you have in the cage aswell as the spores live longer on these. :)
