I just washed my guinea pig and noticed a bald patch behind his ear. I'm pretty sure it's just because his fur is wet. If it is ringworm is there anything I can buy without taking him to the vet? we only have one vet that will treat rodents where I live and there's no way I will be able to afford it. What can I do?

Is the skin scaly, scabby, flaky or itchy? If not it may just be this natural bald patch :)

Hi Most guinea pigs have a natural bald patch behind their ears. The patches should be symmetrical. you only need to see a vet if that is not the case. Fungal patches are scabby/flaky with a whiteish crust.

You may find this guide here helpful in learning what is normal and what not in a guide body: Guinea pig body quirks

I think it is just a bald patch as there's no redness. I work at a pet store and the guinea pigs there have ringworm what should I do if my guinea pig gets ringworm? For example, Is there any human anti-fungal cream that you can put on guinea pigs?

Please click on our ringworm guide, which I have linked into my first post. It explains it all in every detail. Do not home treat on spec; you can easily make things worse rather than better (and as a result more expensive for yourself and with a lot of unnecessary suffering for your guinea pig). Access to medical care is one of the basic animal rights in this country. Whenever you really need to treat, do it properly.

And PLEASE check first whether the two patches behind the ears are the same! ;)
