little Rupert has had a little brown mark in the corner of his lip since w he’s dhim. We mentioned it as the vet when we last took him because he has a small neurological problem that is causing a head tilt (we think). The vet said t was nothing and to wait and see if it spreads. That was weeks ago and it remained the same. I woke up this morning and checked him though, and it seems bigger, fleshier and scabbier. I don’t know if this is ringworm or not. Here are some pictures. We are booking a vets appointment for him as it’s gotton worse. Does this look like ringworm of just a cut?

Looks like the start of Cheilitis, which can be fungal or bacterial, or caused by acidic food :) Do you give him any fruit or anything?

in his previous home he was fed tomatoes but we only feed him kale, lettuce, peppers, carrots and cucumber. Do we need to get it checked out by a vet? Is it contagious to people and can we treat it at home?

Yes you would need it checked by a cavy savvy vet to confirm exactly what you are dealing with and giving appropriate medication. It is never wise to treat on spec at home as you can make matters worse and/or harder to treat in the long run

Get him checked out and clean the scabby area with a cotton bud dipped in dilute hibiscrub.
Avoid acidic foods such as fruit.
It's a nuisance and can be quite a persistant problem

Guess that’s another vet appointment and bill for us. We’ve only had him a month and we’ve been to the vets three times already because we’re yet to fully diagnose his neurological problem and how to help him. I guess our vet fund has come in handy ha x

Yes they never have the best timing at all. I had an outbreak of ringworm a week and a half before we went on holiday and have had to rush to the vets on Christmas eve previously for an abscess... for some reason the illnesses seem to know when its weekends and bank holidays
