Today I went to the doctors and have been told its possible I have either ringworm of eczema. She gave me some medicine to take twice daily.

Now on to my main worry.
My sister caught ringworm from her new piggie, Alfie. He was ill for a long time but hes healthy now. My sister has a weak immune body and she caught it off him.
She has a lot of it covering her body now. At least five on her body she has shown me. Now I possibly have it on my neck -early signs of it, it hasn't turned into the ring shape yet-.
My main worry is that I will pass it to my own guinea pigs. My two boys, Gilbert and Ludwig are abyssinian (and Gil ridgeback) so they have tons of fur. I wash my hands a lot but I am still worried I might accidentally itch the area without noticing and then stroke my guinea pigs.

Are they too old to get ringworm, or is there a chance I may get it, and how do I keep an eye out for it with how furry they are? My guinea pigs are about 8-10 months old.

Thank you :)

Hi, ringworm is highly infectious. I would avoid cuddling your piggies untill you have cleared up (hard i know!) My boys just had it, it tends to show up around the nose and mouth first. Jem had a scabby/ bald patch under his nose, then it spread to his ears. They looked red and sore. Jasper had one bald scabby patch under his mouth. Easy to treat but it was expensive and a hassle. Any age of guinea pig can catch it.
I hope you get sorted Xx

Thank you for the reply. I had heard somewhere only young guinea pigs could get it. But I had wanted to ask.

I won't cuddle them, but I do have to pick them up when I am cleaning out there cage. I will wash my hands before and after. I haven't seen any signs of it on them and I only found out it might be ringworm yesterday. I have had the mark for about a month.
How long does it usually take to appear on a guinea pig?
