Ringworm?

I was just checking on my guinea pigs as usual and I noticed Luddy had a weird mark on his face.
I thought at first it might be a bite or him trying to poke his nose through the cage bars but it looks like it might be ringworm?

I'm not sure if his cage mate has it or not? His face didn't really look the same as Ludwigs...

Also should I check my other two piggies if they have it? There cages are nearby but Luddy and Gils cage is higher up and not quite connected to where the other twos are.
 
I'm no expert and the pics not that clear. I'm treating my piggie for a fungal thing just now with kwench lotion from Gorgeous Guineas. Is it a flakey patch on his face? Probably best to check the other piggies out as well. I'm sure someone more knowledgable that me can help you. There are plenty of treatments for ringworm or fungal infections :-)

Thank you. I think I'll book an appointment with the vet. I had planned to anyway but wanted to see if it was ringworm.

Should I take all four or just the two sharing a cage?
 
Hi, if it is ringworm talk to your vet about imaverol - (you can buy it online for about £17 a bottle - you do need a vet prescription though on most sites).

I was given malaseb for my boys ringworm - it was useless! I tried the gorgeous guineas - also useless. Lovely products they just didn't work on the fungal infection my boys had.

I battled with the ringworm for 6 weeks - eventually catching it myself, and my piggies hated me! Everyday they were getting lotions, potions and being put in the bath - they did not like me at all.

One treatment of Imaverol - and bang it was all gone! It was absolutely amazing! To be sure you need to do a couple of follow up treatments but it is very very easy to do, much less stressful than a malesab bath where they need to stand there for 15 minutes with all suds on them, cold, wet and terrified!

F10 is a brill cleaning product that you can get on amazon - it's the only cleaner that kills fungal spores - so I cleaned everything down with this and we've never had a return.

If you go to your vet - do really get them to look into Imaverol and advise you about it and how to use it etc - (but don't let them charge you £80 for a bottle which is what my old vet tried to do, I said no it's ok gimme a prescription I will get it myself! lol - then I promptly switched vets ;) )

Wow thats a lot! The vets really like to rip you off. I was charged £20 for a treatment I later found for £1.50.

where did you find imaverol for £1.50?
 
You have to pay a standard consultation fee if you see a vet, which is usually around £20; any meds are added on top of it. You can always ask the receptionist to break down the cost of your vet visit for you.

Ringworm is the one form of fungal that can jump species, including us humans; it is also highly infective. If it is disagnosed, please contact us for more tips on how to treat and how to prevent it from spreading. If you suspect it, be very careful to thoroughly wash your hands whenever you come in contact with a potentially infected animal.

Just take your two piggies to be seen.
 
I've just got home from the vet. She doesn't think its fungal. She used a blue light on them and nothing turned up and she said to keep an eye on him for a week. If it starts looking worse to bring him back next week and she'll give me some treatment for it to try.
 
I'm sure I've read somewhere really recently, it might even have been on here :{ that some strains of ringworm don't show up with black light. but I can't remember where I read itmalletheadmalletheadmallethead
 
Yeah thats why she told me to keep an eye on it if it gets worse. She also said to make sure I wash my hands after touching them and make sure not to touch my other piggies if I touch them first.

I'm just going to keep an eye on them. She couldn't see anything on Gilbert.
