I'm sorry, it's late and I'm tired but I can tell you this.

When we got Biscuit, he had ringworm. We did not have to put any cream or treatments on his skin but instead he had medication - I think the invermecitine you mentioned (it's over two years ago now so I can't be sure). It took a while but this cleared it up.

If you are concerned, get back to your vet. Is your vet cavy-savvy? (Do they know a lot about guinea pigs?). If so, they will know the right course of treatment. Ringworm is fairly dangerous and very irritating to guinea pigs but it's nothing to be overly alarmed about in the short-term. Just make sure you're getting the right treatment from your vet.

I'm really tired now and so problably not makiing much sense. sorry.

Ivermectin is solely for mites/lice and having been given it they need the full treatment one a week for 3 weeks
Gentamycin is anti-bacterial not anti-fungal.

Suggest you go back toyour vets and get the right treatement for fungal if that is what the vet thinks it is -

If it is a fungal infetion - best hing is to aply micanazol or clotrimazole cream to teh sore pots - but the best treatment is imaverol dip diluted in water and syriunged into the fur after an anti-fungal bth with sporal D shampoo. (NB bath over 48hours after ivermectin dose)

Please be aware that ringworm is highly infectious to other mammals, including humans, dogs and cats. It is one of the few things that can jumps species. You need to always carefully wash your hands after handling your guinea pig. You also need to disinfect your guinea pig's cage. If you can, try to google for an antifungal (not just antibacterial) vet-strength disinfectant; you should be able to order it from places like ebay; I have used F10, but I do not know whether that is availabe in Serbia. They should not cost much.

As humans have ringworm (or tinea), too, you should be able to get fungal creams in a pharmacy, as long as you say it is fro you and not your guinea pig. These creams contain the active ingredients that Pebble has mentioned; she is our best expert for medications. However, it would be very good if you inquired for an antifungal dip, like imaverol (which you can also google and order over the internet). The dip/bath will get at the fungus that sits at the root of the hairs. You always need to treat the area around the bald patch as well to prevent the fungus from spreading. If necessary, dilute the cream with the same amount of water, so it goes easier between the hairs and down to the skin around the infected areas.

That's right, I couldn't remember the name of the ringworm treatment - this is what happens when you have to work at your computer 'til 2am.

I remember the vet saying that she had picked up ringworm from her patients in the past too.

I don't remember any cream though, just a course of anti-funghal medication.

i am gonna kick the **** out of my vet. idiot ,he cured my piggi from lice not from ringworm ,i knew i should do it on my own mallethead

we just came from the vet ,she gave us daktanol cream antifungus and 2x a week to bathe piggi with mycoseb shampoo :) we are taking a bath in hour or two wish me luck :D

Best of luck - make sure that you work the shampoo well into the hair roots and let it soak in for the appropriate time before rinsing off.

As Pebble says please don't bath with 48 hours of Ivermectin treatment :...

pig is allmost dry ,10% maybe of him is moyst but he is in closed room and he lied down a bit ,he is under pain ,they scalped for samples today again ,he was smallest but loudest animal at vet's :D

my gosh he is so silky and smooth and wow ,i will bath him every day :D xx>>> so cute when he jumps to shake water of him like a miniature dog :D

Treating ringworm is a timely process. My boys unbeknown to me had it when I got them, & it became obvious about a month later. The people I got them from actually gave me some stuff (after I had spent a bomb at the vets) & it was actually for horses! They only had a tiny amount but it worked a treat. It took weeks tho...

Make sure you wear gloves because I caught it, I had a nice ring of it on my neck from nuzzling them ;/ yuk.

Yeah, when we got Biscuit he came with the added bonus of ringworm. I don't remember the treatment taking that long though - a couple of weeks of medication and it cleared up if I remember correctly. Now that you have the right mediciation, you should be able to get that pesky ringworm taken care of and have a happy and healthy piggy soon enough :)

yea treatment goes very well but pig as pig chews his wounds so he wears a cat colar (like on picture ) when i applye the cream ,just gave him a bath 90% dry and in closed room ,so he is sleeping now :)

My 2 also had ringworm when I got them, I used Suralon twice a day for nearly 3 weeks, disinfected cage every day, was quite exhausting start and expensive but well worth the effort to have fealthy happy pigs! Hope yours get better soon.

i know mate ,i spent about 100euros so far for vet ,creams ,difrent vitamins, food ,snacks ,beding ,new water and food cups ,bleech for cage ,and that shampoo mycoseb is really hard to find here and when i found it at last it was allmost 10 pounds and that was about week's and a half cost to have 2,4pound 9months old guinea pig ,on wensday he is going to vet for a check up again ,new messure and one more ivermentacine shot just to be sure :)
