RIP Chilli and Pepper

I am devastated, my sister's bantams (small chickens) have both died over the last 24 hours.

Yesterday we found out that Pepper, the smaller, weaker one out of the two had died. She had been a bit under the weather, but it was a massive shock all round.

Then this morning I got the call to say Chilli had joined her sister Pepper at the bridge.

I really am so sad, I really loved those birds. I never knew the joy that chickens could bring until I met these two. I used to cuddle them and stroke them. Generally spend lots of time with them when I went to my sister's house. I really am very upset. :(
 
I am so sorry! It is hard in this cold weather so close to Christmas...
 
So sorry to hear that, at least they are still together although I know it is no consellation when you want them with you. :( x
 
Thank you both. I'm sat here in tears, I just can't believe it. I was very close to them, I used to handle them so much more than my sis. They weren't scared of me in the slightest, anyone else they'd flap at, but me, they'd tuck themselves in on my lap and sometimes have a sleep, but always poo and wee all over me, the minxes. I really feel so heartbroken

Thank you Laura. I feel so upset and shaken about them leaving us. We don't know how old they were, because my sister and her husband rescued them from this horrible farm. They were going to kill them because they weren't laying. Needless to say Joanna and Ben took them on and have them a lovely life in their last few months, their feathers became glossier, they started laying again (!) and they just seemed so much happier. They only had them since spring. I am so glad my sis and bro in law found them, as they definately enriched all our lives and brought so much happiness, as well as having a better life themselves.
 
Claire, I'm sorry for the loss of your sisters birds. You obviously cared for them deeply :(

Aww hun I'm so sorry, it's hard enough losing any animal but when you feel a special bond as you obviously did it's even harder. At least as in life they are together at the bridge.

Am so sorry for your lost of Chilli and Pepper. They had a wonderful few months with your Sister and husband and they left you with many happy memories. They are together now and always. Big hugs.
