At least 4, or could be 5 years ago, I was outside my house and a lady was getting in a car. She had a cage on the path with a budgie in. I said something like "mind he dont get run over!" She said "you have him. Or I will open the cage. We dont want him." I said "dont joke" she said "have it" so I took the cage. About 5 minutes later I went back outside and she gave me a bag with his stuff in and said "he is called crunchie, he is a nutter. I used to have 2 and the kids got fed up with them."
I changed his name to Psycho. He used to hold his wing in one claw and make the most awful scared noise. He bit, he screeched. He outlived my lovely bird, and my late Mums beautiful budgie. I used to get her out every 2 weeks with gloves on and wash her underneath. Last month or so I have had to lightly trim her beak.I had thought about taking her to the vets, but I think she would have absolutely hated that. Last few days she has been quiet and just after I got her out this morning cleaned the cage with her hanging on to my glove, but very quiet, she flew over the Bridge. I hope she has at last found peace and happiness and is reunited with a beautiful flock of budgies flying free in the bright blue sky. RIP Psycho. xx

Aw, I'm sorry to hear Psycho has left for the Bridge - what a character he sounded :rose
Thank goodness he had a happy life with you, doesn't bear thinking of what extremes people go to with unwanted pets so celebrate the time you had together.
Cross safely little man to The Bridge, lots of new friends to play with are waiting there x>>

RIP Psycho - fly free again!

I am glad that she had a good home with you after the traumas she must have been through before.

So pleased Psycho found a lovely home with you.

RIP Psycho

my son found a picture of Psycho. His cage was next to my canary and they used to spend long hours looking over the garden fence and putting the world to rights.

Chris canary now has the finches next to him! Not sure what he makes of them yet.
Thank you for all your kind words, it does help. Bit easier today, it is just the niggling "what ifs?" and "should I's?" xx
