fang.webp Sadly my OH found Fang dead yesterday. He was a lively, healthy neutered bore, we have no idea why he died (he was eating and weeing and pooing normally and actually had a mouthful of hay when OH found him :( )and he will be very much missed by all of us especially his companion Salene.
RIP my little guy :(
 
Aw I'm really sorry you lost your handsome little chap so suddenly. Perhaps he had sudden heart failure? Or a major stroke? Both can strike without warning and cause sudden death, but the only way you will know would be to ask a vet for a post-mortem. May I ask how old he was?

He was only 3 (not sure of his exact age as he was a rescue) in good health and so lively and funny, he loved exploring and always made us laugh - so gutted.
Sadly OH buried him as a PM was out of the question, however Salene has been given a clean bill of health by our vet so at least we know she is ok :(
 
I'm glad she's fine. I wouldn't have thought it would be anything contagious due to the sudden nature of it.
What an awful shock for you all. I had one die from what looked like a heart attack (I saw it happen) at the age of 18 months. It's really very sad when they go young and without warning like that. x:hug:
 
I'm so sorry about fang and that is was so sudden, i'm sure he had an amazing time with you and he was a gorgeous piggie.
 
I'm sorry for your loss, it's always awful when they leave us, but a sudden death it just so shocking...

I am very sorry about your Fang! He was a stunning boy and he sounds like he was much loved! Sadly, heart attacks, acute heart failure and strokes can strike at any age out of the blue. It always leaves you in shock and with lots of questions. HUGS!

How is Salene coping? Thankfully, you have got several rescues within your reach, so you can hopefully let her choose her own new friend when she comes out of grieving. I see that you have already had a look at our tips.
 
She's eating ok, but seems a little quieter than normal. We've popped an additional snugglesafe in with her :( I've contacted about 10 rescues this morning and it seems they have either nothing suitable or a waiting list although I am waiting a reply still from a couple.
 
I'm so sorry that you lost the lovely Fang. He was so handsome. Popcorn free lovely long haired boy. I hope Salene is doing ok.
