Woke up this morning to my 13 year old telling me one of her Guinea pigs has passed
We are confused with this as there have been no signs he was fine last night munching away on his hay and pepper, my daughter said his brother was squeaking and running around him
Now I'm unsure what to do for the best for his brother Hurley weather to find a friend for him or have him castrated to go with one or more of our girls we lost a pig the day after castration 2 years ago but other 2 were fine and live with girls
Any help would be appreciated

I am so sorry for your loss.

You could take Hurley to a rescue were he can choose his own friend. That is worth trying before neutering.

Really sorry for your loss. big hugs to you at this sad time.

RIP Harry

I'm so sorry for your loss goodnight little one xxxxx

Thank you
Hurleya not good, seems really down, he's.not eaten much but gas had hay and veggis though, I have been giving him some extra attention but he seems really lonely, I have held him up to the bats if the cage that had our other boar pair keith and traecle there was no chattering from any if them just purring noises and rumbling, just wondering if it's worth trying them, I know boat trips rarely work but it's an us idea the rescues round my area won't consider homing single boar even if it is to match them up I tried before when looking for a friend for Keith that's why I took a gamble on gumtree and regimes treacle, luckily they get on, I don't want Hurley giving up he was do close to Harry they have been inseparable since birth

So sorry about Harry :(

It's difficult for Hurley but he might settle down over night. Have you got a guinea-sized cuddly toy you can put in with him? No button eyes or anything dangerous to piggies on the toy of course. Sometimes it helps.

Boar trios are difficult to establish I have heard & you risk the existing pair falling out. You would need a really big enclosure to try 3 boars living together. Have you had a look at the Piggy Bank rescues map to see if there are any new rescues near you since you last looked? A Piggy Bank rescue would help you with finding a friend for Hurley I'm sure.

Best wishes to you & your piggies,

shiny :)

Just realized my terrible spelling, it's my pedictive text on my phone
I have had a look there's no new ones, been checking gumtree only male I've found is a 8month old which **** wouldn't work?
I have the space for a space 2x7 which I am in the process of building and was going to move,my 2 boy pairs in there own level

I'm very sorry for your loss :( i just lost my piggy too, ive got two others who live together and shall be watching them like a hawk!
Its just horrible when lose our little Animal friends....

I'm so sorry for your loss, run free Harry. You will find that Hurley will grieve for a while. If you decide to have Hurley castrated to go in with some girls, it would be prudent to have his pen next to the others during his six week quarantine, he can then have the sight and interaction of other piggies.

this is a picture of harry(the darker one) with his brother hurley, taken a while ago in their old cage
