I am still very upset about having to send Heini ('Lively', pronounced Haynee) to join her beloved Carwyn at the Rainbow Bridge yesterday after a short illness. She was only 3 years old.
When I adopted Briallen and 5 weeks old rescue-born Heini from The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue in July 2015 for my newly bereaved Carwyn, it was love on first sight for Heini and Carwyn; a love that has endured for three years until Carwyn's death in October.
Heini was the one who taught Carwyn to run, to popcorn with her and to play. They were never far away from each other.
Heini grew into a typical no-nonsense crested lady, who took over smoothly when Briallen left the group for Barri, which by then had been added to by sisters Hapus and Llawen.
She and Llawen settled down well together after Carwyn's passing in October even though Heini's love of Carwyn has never stopped.
I hope that they have met again at the Rainbow Bridge!
It is going to take me some time to come to terms with Heini's unexpected but dramatic loss.
