The return from our mini-break has sadly had a less than joyous end, as I found Helygen ‘Willow’ in her forever sleep. She must have died unexpectedly and rather quickly sometime in between the last carer visit and our arrival. It is the first time in all these years that I have lost a piggy unexpectedly while I have been away.
Recently bereaved Helygen came here in June 2015 when her very caring owner was not allowed by the landlord to get a new companion for her and was desperately looking for another loving home with company for her since she was only a teenager. Her owner has stayed in contact and even visited over the last nearly 4 years.
Helygen may be familiar to you since her bonding is featured in the forum guide!

While Helygen was not a people piggy and only grudgingly bore any necessary handling and grooming, she has lived a very happy piggy life as a member of a very stable and closely knit group led first by Maelog and then by Pioden.

Since January she has been just with Pioden when Hedydd and Heulwen went to join her now three times bereaved childhood playmate Tegan in an old ladies group. Pioden is my largest ever piggy and twice the size and weight of Helygen without carrying any extra weight, so it was rather amusing to see the two of them hanging out together most often while they were still with the group.

While Helygen stayed at the back of the crowd when it came to human interaction, she had a feisty side to her and she could stand her ground, especially with hen-pecked Pioden!

Yet another loved and familiar face missing at feeding time...
