So I came home from work tonight to find a hutch full of blood.

Rushed Marmalade to the vet where they found a tumour the size of a golf ball in his tummy. No sign of it up to now.

They said the kindest thing would be to say goodbye.

Marmalade I've loved you so much for so long. You'll never know the joy you brought to my life and how much you taught me. Your brother misses you already.

HUGS!

I am ever so sorry that you and poor Marmalade have come up against the kind of diagnosis we all secretely fear. You did the kindest thing for him. Unfortunately, guinea pigs are very good at hiding any problems, so unless an internal tumor is specifically impeding a major organ and causing problems/symptoms that way, it often goes undetected for a very long time. :(

RIP Marmalade

PS: Here are our tips on how to best look out for his brother. https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/looking-after-a-bereaved-piggy.109674/

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this advice - much needed. Freddie is beginning to wonder where his brother is. He's trying to find Marmalade and beginning to get distressed. I've brought him inside to spend the night indoors with me. I keep cuddling him x

so sorry for your loss, you did the kindest thing you could've done and have put Marmalade at rest now, in no pain.
R.I.P Marmalade
xx

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your boy. You did the kindest thing for him.
I hope Freddie's okay. Thinking of you x

RIP Marmalade, sleep peacefully little one

Poor little Freddie is so depressed today - doing everything it says in the 'grieving guinea pig' link above so hopefully I'm helping a little. Have taken the day off work to be with him.

I am so sorry for the loss of your special boy. Huge Hugs

RIP Marmalade

Bought Freddie a teddybear today... finger's crossed!
