My poor piggy died at the weekend from an abscess in her mouth.
Turns out the breeder we got her from had over bred and she and her sister Coco have hereditary tooth problems.
We had Coco looked at the next day and she apparently only has 6 months left so we're a bit upset as it has all happened so quickly.
We have another pig Fudge who we got just before Xmas from a pet shop so she will soon be all on her own after being in a family of 3. 8...
 
I'm so sorry to hear your news. I know how hard it is to loose a piggy. Thinking of you. x

I am so sorry about your loss. It is hard to lose a piggy and to know that your other one has the same problems.

Perhaps you can post about Coco's tooth problems and people on here can help you find a rodentologist or piggy savvy vet within your reach, so you can prolong her life. Please state your area!

Coco apparently has all of her back teeth growing inwards rather then straight down like normal. They are the right length as she has a lot of hay and things to chew on but they rub on her cheeks and jaw as they're not in the right place. Mocha had one tooth growing in and one growing out. The real problem is when they start getting ulcers from the rubbing and they don't want to eat. Mocha just faded away really, depsite us feeding her by syringe with a high calorie food from the vet.
Coco doesn't have any ulcers at present but it's only a matter of time.

If anyone does have any suggestions I would love to hear them!:))

Well a couple of weeks ago we replaces Mocha with a rescue piggy called Minstrel. When she came to us she had lice and was really quite skinny but we spent ages cleaning her and giving her food and cuddles but sadly she passed away last weekend from what looks like a parasite. She had diarrhoea and just wasn't strong enough to get through it.
After the loss of Mocha it was really very hard to bury another one8...

Bit i am pleased to announce we are trying again and Wispa became a member of the family last Saturday. I will try and gets pics of all the pigs uploaded asap.

SO we now have Coco, Fudge and Wispa and they all absolutely adore each other. All my fingers and toes are crossed that this works out!:)):))
 
What a terrible time you have had recently, losing 2 beloved piggies. But I'ms o pleased for you and hope that Wispa settles in well.

I am so sorry for your losses! I can really feel for you, having just lost one piggy after only a few weeks with me as well.

I'm trying to upload pics of them all but only get these little pics. Oh well Mocha(RIP) is up first then the newbie Wispa and finally Minstrel (RIP, in black and white) and Fudge who is still around and currently chasing Wispa!
