I'm in tears as I post this message. My Snoopy was a big, white lop eared bunny aged 6 years old. He was fine yesterday - came when I called him for his treats whilst running free in the garden & jumped into his hutch to be locked away at night wh his tea. This morning he didn't come out of his bed but it was early & really cold. He sometimes took his time getting up.
After school today my 16 year old found him collapsed in his hutch, barely alive. I was at work but managed to arrange an emergency appointment at the vets. Before I could get home, he passed away. It was almost as if he waited to say goodbye to at least one of his human family. It's also heartbreaking as his soul mate, Janey a large black doe aged 8 sat vigil with him & then tried to rouse him by nudging & licking him when he had died. She also tried to stop my son taking him from his hutch by growling at him & refusing to move.
We'll alll miss him even tho he wasn't the cleverest bun around & loved the easy life. The garden won't be the same without him.
Have fun Snoopy with your old friend, Flopsy.
