RIP my little Flo.

It's with a heavy heart I write this but my little Flora passed away today. She was going in to the vets for surgery to have a lump removed from under her chin. However when she was sedated the vet had a look over her and noticed a tumour on her ovary so did not proceed with the surgery. As my Flo was coming round from sedation she went into respiratory arrest which led to cardiac arrest and died. I am heartbroken beyond words and am not coping too well. She will be cremated and buried next week.
She was my first guinea pig and she was the best. She would purr when I ticked her and she loved her chin tickles. I loved her licky kisses.

Now her cagemate Fauna is on her own and doesn't know what's going on. She was the dominant one and seems to be fine just now.
Can anyone give tips please?

Sleep Tight little Flo.
Keep an eye on any change in Fauna but whether she pines or not you will have to find her a friend sooner rather than later.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
Flo was a beautiful girl.
Having just lost one of my girls unexpectedly I know that the shock and grief can leave you reeling.
You need to allow yourself time to grieve and that takes time so be patient and gentle with yourself.
Fauna will be grieving too so keep an eye on her. The instinct to survive should kick in but she will feel lonely and probably be much more subdued.
She will need companionship before you may feel ready for another piggy so do keep an eye on her.
Look after yourself too
 
Hello. Sorry to hear about Flu she was beautiful and so well loved. It's hard to lose a piggie that one bond's with and it's very upsetting.
Theirs nothing that could have been done and Rainbow World has another piggie that will never be forgotten. We here on this forum will help and pls use us. I myself can guarantee for that. x

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am devastated. I have to be strong for Fauna who is doing ok so far and I did always say that if one died I would have the othrr one rehomed and bonded with another pig. Now I have become soo attached, I can't imagine giving Fauna up. So going to try and bond her with another pig. The hard part is the cycle of having one die and then replacing it and I don't know how much heartbreak I can deal with.

You only grieve where you have loved and the human heart has a great capacity for love.
Don’t think of another guinea pig as a replacement but rather as a successor to Flo who was a beautiful and unique animal. She will always have her place in your heart and any future piggy will find their own place in your life and heart.
You think of another piggy because Flo was so special and you love Fauna.
 
I am so sorry for your loss, the unexpected passings are very hard to reconcile and deal with. Take time to be kind to yourself and grieve. She obviuosly had such a loving life with you. I am really sorry once again for the loss of your beautiful girl. Huge hugs

keep an eye on Fauna she may be quiet for a few days but as long as she is eating that is a good sign.

So sorry for your loss. Take some time to cope with your loss. When you are both ready take Fauna Piggy dating. Flo would want you both to be happy and to share your love with another piggy.
