I am very sad that my 5 years old Nosgan 'Nightsong' has unexpectedly made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. He has got his Welsh name because one rarely saw him (except begging at mealtimes) but one could hear him!

Nosgan has come here after he failed to bond with either of his previous owner’s sow groups after losing his boar-mate. He was originally an emergency intake at the RSPCA Walsall/Birmingham. The rescue (which I have also adopted from) had been informed of the change of ownership.

He was to be next door company for my equally bereaved and difficult to bond spayed teddy Nesta, which liked the male counterpart of her a lot - but NOT in her own space! So I found Nosgan, who really didn’t vibe with sows, a little boyfriend of his own to live with as a neighbour of Nesta.

Nosgan has always remained a rather skittish and nervous piggy that was easily stressed out, but he has been very happy with his laid-back sidekick Nye, who has grounded and calmed him in the 2 1/2 years they have been together. The two have never been far from each other and they never had problems living alongside sows! They balanced each other out really well; in looks as well as in outlook!

Between nearly losing his eye in a very nasty injury the day before he was supposed to meet Nye as well as living with a hernia and increasing impaction as a late neutering complication for the last two years, Nosgan has given me a fair number of sleepless nights. Sadly, it rather looks like the time bomb in the shape of his difficult to operate hernia has finally gone off, but not before allowing Nosgan to live a normal life span and find fulfilment again!

Poor Nye is rather upset and confused after losing his best friend...

My deepest condolences on your loss. We’re still mourning Broly, who passed suddenly & very unexpectedly 3 weeks ago. From reading your post, Nosgan was very much loved and will be missed. May they both popcorn and zoom freely at the rainbow bridge.
