Sadly lost one of our piggies, Pepper (who I (to the annoyance of my wife)) usually called "boy".

He had seemed under the weather, but we didn't anticipate how badly. We took him to an emergency vet last night, and have to say, we were hopeful. The vet thought it might be a respiratory infection.

She went back at midnight, and felt he was doing well, but unfortunately this morning, he had passed away.

I thought I'd be all "manly" about it, but surprised myself at how upset I am. Now have the difficult task later of telling my daughter, who's at school just now, oblivious.

Also need to decide what next, ashes, burial in the back garden? Going to be hard. Will try and post a photo later, and also might try and get my daughter to write a few words (she's only 11, and I think she will take it pretty hard, so this might help a little).

RIP wee man, you will be greatly missed.

I am looking forward to seeing a photo of Pepper. So far my only introduction to him has been this very sad news. Again, am so very sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss! Piggies can go downhill very quickly - and they certanly have a way of making a nest in your heart!

Hopefully you can get through the disclosure and burial. If you have foxes or cats coming into your garden, you may prefer to go for a cremation.

RIP Pepper

Really sorry to read this, I just caught your thread in Health and Illness. Am so sorry he didn't make it. I hope you, your wife and daughter are okay. He was obviously a very loved member of your family and was a stunning little piggie.

RIP Pepper
