I came home from work today and my little rocket, Toffee had gone to the bridge.
This has come completely out of the blue ….. I got her with 2 companions last October (2010) from PAH adoption centre. She had major dental problems from when I got her (she was under 500g and looked more like a mouse than a piggy back then) and needed a lot of work done including a big op for a dental abscess but seemed to have improved hugely. After her last dental a few wheeks ago she didn’t gain a lot of weight, but didn’t lose any and seemed her normal faster-than-a-rocket self. She recently (couple of months ago) had a fungal infection but that had cleared up too and she had seen the vet since then too.
I cant believe that she was acting just as normal, eating her veggies, running around, wheeking and now she’s gone. Her poop were their normal size for her small body. I checked her over and there wasn’t a mark on her body except a slightly pulled claw (she lost a claw a few weeks ago – probably not relevant but I mentioned it when she saw the vet), no bloatedness or anything. Her teeth also looked fine and she ate this morning before I went to work.
I have no idea how long her little body was lying in the cage with her 2 friends – would hate to think they’ve been running around her all day. I’ve cleaned the cage, her friends seem fine (although very quiet), healthy and have been coming over for chin tickles. The other group of 5 piggies I have who were/are separate from Toffee’s herd are quieter than normal ….silent in fact… as if they know.
RIP Toffee pops – you are and always will be my little Rocket. 8... 8...
