So no I no longer have either of my my teddy girls. I am not up to posting in Rainbow Bridge yet. It was Cervical Lyymphadenitis (CL) and she went dowhill very fast. Its so hard after only loosing Toffee in November.
Thanks....I think it has not really sunk in yet as it was such a sudden illness.
She grieved so much after Toffee died and I had to hand feed her to keep her going, and I had worked so hard to cheer her up, I thought the last 2 weeks she had turned a corner and she was wheeking for veggies and popcorning round her cage :-(
I think you are right @piggyfan I thought she was "out of the woods" grief wise as she was eating eagerly again and was active but maybe she was just so sad and didnt have the heart to fight the infection. By the time we got to the vets she had given up, I could tell.
I have had to bin all her fleecey things and disinfect the floors etc as CL is contagious and I am worried about the boys. I have no idea where the original infection came from though.
I am ever so sorry; what a sad shock for you! It can really whack you around. It is sadly not at all rare that the loss of a beloved friend lowers the immune system, so any hidden problems can come to the fore and take over. It makes if so much harder for us of course.
But I am sure that Toffee will have been waiting for her best friend at the Rainbow Bridge and they can popcorn and graze together again. You will remember them as a pair once the worst of grieving process is over; that is how they will always live in your heart!
So very sorry to hear this bad news, my heart goes out to you. Losing one was bad enough but losing two in quick succession must be devastating. I lost my Diesel nearly a month ago and I still don't want to write a post on the rainbow bridge. Big hugs.
Sorry to hear about Ripple. You will be devastated after losing Toffee so recently. Life is fragile and all you can do Is enjoy them and give them the best even if the journey is cut short because of illness. RIP little girl.
Thanks everyone. Its so sad, we were going to match her up with one of @guineabecs female piggies over the xmas period so she would have had a friend again. Such a shock.
Terribly sad, sorry for you and Ripple. No matter how many piggies you loose, it absolutely never gets easier, each one holds a close place in our hearts.
Sending you big hugs.
So sorry to hear you're going through this again so soon
Life IS fragile but precious too and I'm sure you and your girls treasured every minute. Big hugs x
