Roaming around time

Sorry if this is the wrong thread!
I am looking to let my guinea pigs do some free-roaming. It will be their first time. The only place we are able to let the piggies free-roam is on hard flooring in the hallway. Will this be too slippy for them? I can put down some towels and fleece but I dont have enough to cover the whole area and have no way of blocking some of it off. Will I have to just not let them free roam or will the hard flooring be okay for them? I have purchased a play pen which I still have for them. It is the biggest I could find but still not very big. They don't seem to enjoy it as much so this is why I'm looking for them to free roam. Thanks in advance.

My piggies used to free roam in my hallway that was laminate floor. I just put down fleeces so they could walk on them if they wished to but there wasn’t enough to cover the whole floor. They were absolutely fine

My are free roaming all day in a pig proofed room. I have areas with laminate floor and they are fine
