Well I decided to bath Robbie today, I am sure I have bathed him before and he was ok with it. I have some lovely Gorgeous Guineas Lice & Easy shampoo. He hated it, in fact I got more wet than he did, he kept leaping out of the bowl onto me. OMG what an experience. I didn't even have the chance to leave it on 5 minutes. I lathered him up really well but washing it off was a terrible experience. Poor robbie. He isn't happy with me, in fact he did nip me twice. I daren't repeat the shampooing process in case he went into shock. Anyone else have this experience.

Some piggies really hate the bath. When I am leaving the lice and easy on for 5 mins, I usually wrap the piggy up loosely in a towel, and that helps. I rinse by holding my piggy under the tap (making sure temp is just right first of course). That way I have two hands free to support. Poor Robbie. Maybe just bath him when really necessary for the future. x

Oh my, poor Robbie, he is such a size too, he is difficult to control but he is a lovely boy, bless him. Perhaps i'll stick to Ivermectin in future, he doesn't mind that lol, the easier way to get rid of any friends he might have. One of my old guinea pigs loved having a bath, except she kept trying to drink the water lol.

Thanks for your reply.

I use a measuring jug of warm water to rinse but they seem to hate that too! Amy was funny when she and Tiger were in the bath. She kept running away from me and my jug but going and sitting under the running tap rolleyes

I think they either love it or hate it, depends on the guineas temperament. Have you tried putting the washing up bowl in the bottom of the bath, that way if they jump out they can only get into the bath. When I bathed my girls I just used the shower head to wash them with and stood them directly in the bottom of the bath. Both gave me a look of disgust though i have to say, but at least they were safe.rolleyes:))

My Mimsi always tries to jump out of the sink when i bath him. I try to make bath time as quick as possible now and use the running tap method as well. Poor Robbie, my lot can sympathise with him. At least he will be smelling all fresh and fluffy now!

I can't use the sink as both george and tiger climb onto the back bit where the taps are. Going to have to start bathing separately instead of pairs. As when I was doing amy & Tiger I was rinsing Amy and Tiger climbed halfway up the side of the bath then slid down! I'm worried next time he may do something worse rolleyes

Spice used to love being bathed and just sit there, But Honey acts like ermm how can i explain it? A high jumper. Lol

I found getting an empty crate, putting a old towel or tea towel on the base and putting the whole thing in the bath was the best way to bath her.

Then using a measuring jug to bath her, I think the sound of water scares them.

And after once bathed, I towel dry her and then put her back in the bath with a bit of lettuce and food to eat :)
